OB3 Research was appointed by Carmarthenshire County Council to undertake a research project to further understanding about the impact of an unpaid caring role, where the cared for person has a substance misuse issue.
The objectives of the research project were to:
identify the key challenges carers of people with substance misuse issues (concerned others) experience
understand what support carers/concerned others need to maintain their independence and wellbeing
explore whether concerned others have different support needs to other carers/generic carer services
identify how support for concerned others could evolve to be more inclusive or designed in a more bespoke manner to better meet their needs.
